James

A lovely example of an Ayres bow rocker probably made between 1900 and 1910 which has been carefully restored by Jan Rusling. He has new ear tips, mane , tail and tack and is ready to ride with a long smooth rocking action.

Most of his original paint survived but in a very worn state so Jan has overpainted it and revarnished the surface. The horse has not been regessoed and it is possible to see where the original gesso has worn and some of the normal surface cracks found in old horses. The bow stretchers and platform have been replaced some time in the past but the actual bows are original. Scroll down for another picture.
